“O Keshava! O Lord of the universe! O Lord Hari, who have assumed the form of half-man, half-lion! All glories to You! Just as one can easily crush a wasp between one’s fingernails, so in the same way the body of the wasp like demon Hiranyakashipu has been ripped apart by the wonderful pointed nails on Your beautiful lotus hands.”

Lord Nrsinghadeva is one of the Ten (10) Avatars of Lord Vishnu (Lord Krishna) during the Golden Age known as Satya Yuga. The boons of Lord Brahma to the Demon Emperor made him seemingly invincible that the entire three worlds was under his mercy.

Therefore, to save His devotee, Prahlad Maharaj, from abuse and death by the hands of his own father, Hiranyakasipu, the merciful Lord Vishnu assumed a form that will not break the boons of Brahma but still be able to vanquish the demon. In doing so, the Supreme Lord Hari, came as Lord Nrsinghadeva, the protector of His devotee and slayer of demons.
